Thanks to a neighborly tip, I've recently discovered that one can easily get from Astoria to Roosevelt Island by walking or biking. The reason I bring this up is that I truly enjoy bike riding and Roosevelt Island provides for the best non-vehicular bike riding that I've discovered in a long while.

Sure, I can ride over to Central Park risking my life the entire way , or I can take the wee bridge pictured above via 36th Avenue here in Astoria and ride around an entire island bordered by water almost devoid of car traffic. Check it out peops!

Side note: this is a "moveable" bridge. Who knew? You learn something each and every day, don't you?
